Review: John of John by Douglas Stuart

Author:  Stacey Collins

The novel that will grab you from the first page and not let go.

Though Douglas Stuart’s John of John was published back in May, it’s simply too good not to bring back into the spotlight. From the very first page, this novel grabbed my attention, and I flew through it in just a couple of sittings. The story follows Cal as he returns home after an extended stint overseas, attempting the delicate task of reconnecting with his family and rebuilding his old life.

What makes the book so unforgettable is Stuart’s incredible craft. The story is extraordinarily rich in detail and overflowing with a palpable, immersive atmosphere that sweeps you in straight away. You feel every bit of Cal's emotional journey as he tries to find his feet in a once familiar place. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for their next read.
