Love Song by Elle Kennedy Review

Author:  Shannon McDonnell

The latest in the Off Campus universe from Elle Kennedy

Love Song by Elle Kennedy, continues to establish the author’s legacy in gracing us with the highest caliber of misunderstood, secretly sweet book boyfriends to ever walk the (fictional) earth. I might be biased, since Kennedy’s Off Campus series is what got adult me to pick books back up again. Love Song brings the best of her previous Off Campus, Briar U, and Campus Diaries series’ together in a brand new standalone romance.

Love Song explores the inter-familial relationship between John Logan’s (see - The Mistake) daughter, Blake, and Garret Graham’s (see - The Deal)  son Wyatt as they both find themselves escaping their realities for a restful summer. After dancing around their brief past entanglements, the two form a friendship above all - encouraging one another to find the inspiration to figure out what’s next for them. Kennedy - who loves a character side quest - also gives us a mystery to follow from Lake Tahoe’s past, about a young girl whose lover runs away with her sister.

Kennedy’s books combine the innocence of new adults finding their place in the world during and after their college years, with real life dynamics of family, friends, relationships and of course, a whole lot of love (with plenty of spice on the side). What I love about her writing is the character development, the banter and the wit both our FMC, and MMC’s throw at each other - along with the sprinklings of characters past and present that make you feel like you’ve met everyone in the Logan, Graham, DiLaurentis and Tucker families and are just spending another Summer with them at the family lake house.

Like all of the Briar universe books, we get plenty of page time from the original characters we know and love, and the brotherhood pact that survives all the drama that unfolds.

I read it in a day, loved it like I do all her books, and highly recommend it for anyone wanting to get more out of the Off Campus universe, now that we have to wait for Season 2!
