Yoko Ogawa
Yoko Ogawa is an acclaimed Japanese author who has received every major literary award in her home country. Her fiction has been published in prestigious journals such as The New Yorker, A Public Space, and Zoetrope. Among her notable works are The Diving Pool, The Housekeeper and the Professor, Hotel Iris, and Revenge. Her dystopian novel, The Memory Police, was a finalist for the International Booker Prize.
Stephen Snyder is a translator and a professor of Japanese Studies at Middlebury College in Vermont, USA. He has translated works by prominent authors including Kenzaburo Oe, Ryu Murakami, and Miri Yu. His translation of Natsuo Kirino’s Out was a finalist for the Edgar Award for best mystery novel in 2004. He also translated Yoko Ogawa’s Hotel Iris, which was shortlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize in 2011, and The Memory Police, which was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2020.
