About The Author

Kane Williamson

Born in Tauranga, New Zealand, Kane Williamson is widely regarded as one of the finest batsmen in the history of cricket. The right-hander scored a century on his Test debut against India in 2010. Six years later, at the age of 25, he took over the captaincy of the New Zealand team.

Williamson became known for his composure in high-pressure situations; his grace, both in victory and defeat; and his team-first mentality.

In addition to his 378 appearances for New Zealand, Williamson has represented Gloucestershire, Yorkshire, Middlesex, Gujarat Titans, Durban’s Super Giants, the Barbados Tridents, and London Spirit. He was also part of SunRisers Hyderabad’s IPL championship in 2016, the franchise he skippered on 46 occasions.

At the 2019 World Cup, Williamson was named player of the tournament. He was also Test Player of the Year in 2019, as well as being named in the ICC Test Team of the Decade (2011-2020).

He announced his retirement from international cricket in June 2026.
