William Forgey, M.D. is a veteran outdoor author and practices family medicine full-time. He serves on the board of trustees of the International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers, is a fellow of the Explorers Club, and is a past president of the Wilderness Medical Society.

Forgey is a former Boy Scout scoutmaster and advisor for the Medical Explorer Post and High Adventure Post. He currently serves on the National Health and Safety Committee and as an advisory board member for the Northern Tier High Adventure Base for the Boy Scouts of America.

He is the author of numerous books on wilderness medicine and camping, including Basic Illustrated Wilderness First Aid. He resides in Crown Point, Indiana.
