About The Author

Vicki Pipe

Vicki Pipe (Author)

Vicki has been researching and writing about railways ever since she co-founded, produced and presented All The Stations, an online documentary project visiting every railway station in the UK and Ireland. Her key interest in the railways lies with the stories of people, social change and how the railways influence our sense of space and surroundings.

She is the co-author of The Railway Adventures: Places, Trains, People and Stations, and lead author of Great British Railways: 50 Things To See and Do. She is a former columnist for Modern Railways magazine where she focused on the work of Commuinty Rail and its impact on the lives of people around the country.

Outside of writing Vicki is a museum and heritage engagement specialist with many years experience producing cutting edge programmes, activities and exhibitions with a diverse range of audiences including adults, families and young people. She has worked for organisations including The Royal Collection, London Transport Museum, Bow Street Museum of Crime and Justice, Imperial War Museum, The National Trust and Bletchley Park.

Joe Bucco (Illustrator)

Joe Bucco studied illustration at the Columbus College of Art and Design, USA, and after spending some time in New York returned to his home town of Cleveland where he lives with his wife and two children. As well as illustrating children’s books, he has worked in graphic novels, comic books, greeting cards, and stage design.
