What They're Saying

Critics Review

“Susan Peirce Thompson has done it again. MAINTAIN is the essential guide to ending the weight-loss struggle for good—practical, compassionate, and truly life-changing.”
— Mark Hyman, MD, #1 New York Times best-selling author of Young Forever, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Function Health

“If you want to be strong, fit, and healthy lifelong, you need to know more than what to eat; you need to understand how to MAINTAIN. Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson has elevated the conversation. If you are ready to do the deep work and move past the endless diet struggle, the Maintenance Movement is what you’ve been waiting for.”
— Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, New York Times best-selling author of Forever Strong

“In a modern world that conspires mightily against both wellness and thinness, achieving either, let alone both, takes much more than willpower; it takes skillpower. With keen insight and deep compassion, Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson imparts that skill set in MAINTAIN. The goal here is not a weight, nor even just vitality—it is a better relationship with food, with yourself, and with the daily routine of your life.”
— David L. Katz, MD, MPH, past president, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and founder of the True Health Initiative

“Over the last decade, I’ve shared Susan Peirce Thompson’s work with millions of people in the Food Revolution Network community and the results have been nothing short of astonishing. Nearly everywhere I go, I meet people whose lives have been changed and even saved by her message. She is truly a visionary. But what excites me the most about MAINTAIN is how it charts a path beyond the endless war between diet culture and body acceptance toward something we desperately need: a new conversation entirely. Susan shows us that maintenance isn’t about deprivation or perfection. It’s about becoming Devoted, Resourced, and finally Liberated. This is the common ground where we all can meet—where we stop cycling between restriction and regret and start living with clarity, agency, and peace. If you’re ready to claim that freedom for yourself this book will show you the way.”
— Ocean Robbins, co-founder & CEO, Food Revolution Network, and author of 31-Day Food Revolution

“Obesity is half biological, half psychological. Both are necessary targets for meaningful weight loss. In BRIGHT LINE EATING, Susan Peirce Thompson argued the biological—giving up sugar and ultra-processed foods, including food addiction. Now, in MAINTAIN, she argues the psychological—the changes one needs to make in their relationship with food required to make weight loss sustainable. Only when you master both can you truly break free.”
— Robert H. Lustig, MD, MSL, Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, UCSF, and author of Fat Chance and Metabolical
