- Worked in orthopaedic settings in the UK and Sweden.
- Completed a BSc (Hons) Education Studies in Nursing at UoW in 1995.
- Awarded a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Birmingham in 2001.
- Awarded a personal chair (professorship) in Orthopaedic Nursing in 2008 by Keele University.
- Research Expertise: Orthopaedic Nursing, care of patients undergoing total joint replacement, Hospital at Home schemes, Patient reported outcome measures, advanced nurse practice roles, and patient assessment.
Dr. Julie Santy-Tomlinson
- Worked in Trauma and Orthopaedic settings internationally before becoming an academic, writer, editor, and nurse-educator.
- Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Trauma and Orthopaedic Nursing since 2007.
- Authored several books on orthopaedics, trauma, nursing, and education.
Jean
- Qualified as a registered nurse (RGN) in 1988 from Salford NHS Trust.
- Worked in various fields including elective orthopaedics, acute trauma, ENT, rheumatology, endocrinology, acute medicine, and acute rehabilitation.
- Held positions as Senior Staff Nurse, Junior Sister, and Lecturer/Practitioner.
- Completed a BSc (Hons) in Nursing Practice.
- Served as a Practice Educator Facilitator for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, educating student nurses in practice settings.
- Completed the Practice Educators Masters module and an MSc in Professional Development.
- Member of the Practice Educators Special Interest Group and the RCN Education Forum.
- Served on the RCN Learning Rep Committee as the Northwest Representative.
- Currently retired but works for the Open University as a Practice Teacher.
