About The Author
Rachael King
Rachael King is the author of four books in the Violet and the Velvets series, a folk horror fantasy for young adults, and Song of the Saltings. She also wrote two stand-alone middle-grade novels, The Grimmelings and Secrets at Red Rocks, which was adapted into an Emmy-award-winning TV series.
King began performing at fifteen, just six weeks after picking up a bass guitar. She went on to play with six bands, including The Cakekitchen and 3Ds. She created the Violet and the Velvets series to celebrate the DIY punk ethos and to empower girls, showing them they can be involved in a band without necessarily being singers or proficient musicians.
