About The Author
Pete Goss
Pete Goss is a former Royal Marine, legendary sailor, and best-selling author of Close to the Wind. He is perhaps best known for his heroic rescue of a fellow competitor in the 1996⁄7 Vendée Globe round-the-world yacht race, performed under horrendous conditions.
Martin Thomas is the former Commodore of the Ocean Cruising Club and currently serves as the Vice-Commodore of the Royal London Yacht Club. He has authored Reeds Storm Handbook and Reeds First Aid Handbook, and edited Adlard Coles’ Heavy Weather Sailing.
