Patricia Highsmith
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1921, Patricia Highsmith moved to New York at the age of six. She decided to become a writer at sixteen and, in her senior year of college, edited the college magazine. Her debut novel, Strangers on a Train, was adapted into a famous film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1951. Highsmith passed away in Locarno, Switzerland, in 1995. Her final novel, Small g: A Summer Idyll, was published posthumously just over a month later.
