Viktor Frankl was born in Vienna in 1905 and was Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Vienna Medical School. He was inspired by his own experiences in Nazi concentration camps, where he lost his wife, father, mother, and brother. Despite these hardships, he maintained qualities of compassion, loyalty, an undaunted spirit, and a thirst for life, even earning his pilot’s license at age 67. He died in Vienna in 1997.
