Norm Hutton
Norm Hutton accompanied his father on prospecting trips throughout British Columbia from a young age, discovering deposits of various minerals. He followed in his father’s footsteps into placer mining, building dredges and working claims on the Fraser River and in the Wells-Barkerville area. Later, he became an industrial electrician but continued to assist his father with staking mineral and placer claims. Inspired by a colleague, Norm taught night school on placer mining, which became so popular that he taught full classrooms at his local college. Now retired, Norm travels the province with his wife, Sharie, always keeping a gold pan or two close by.
