Nokx is one of those wonderful talents who understands true flavours. She has been on the British food scene for years, showing wonderful, grounded techniques, which she has now been able to put into a book using all of her history and heritage to showcase achievable, creative and incredibly exciting dishes. South African food is deep flavoured, incredibly interesting and being newly discovered and enjoyed here. This is a must-have book to add to your collection of world cuisines. * Tom Kerridge *

As a fellow chef, I admire how assured this book is. This is cooking that comes from lived experience. The flavours are bold, the recipes are generous and thoughtful, and every dish is grounded in real technique and deep cultural knowledge. * Sally Abe *
Packed full of ideas, energy and joy… just like Nokx * Joké Bakare *
This is Nokx’s story, of how she sees the world and how food has impacted that world. She gives that insight with such honesty and realness. This book tells me so much about Nokx, and that’s what makes the food and the recipes so much more special as it comes from her journey. In this world of information overload there’s a comforting sense of place and meaning to this book. Thank you so much for sharing it. * Reuben Riffel *

About The Author

Nokx Majozi

Nokx Majozi learned to cook at an early age, inspired by watching her parents in their home kitchen in Durban. She soon knew she wanted to make this her career, which wasn’t something many people in her family were familiar with. Breaking the mould, she fulfilled her dreams and spent three years studying before travelling to the US to cook South African food in Florida and eventually settling in London, where she’s been for nearly 20 years.

As Head Pie Maker and Senior Chef at the acclaimed Holborn Dining Rooms, Nokx brought flavours of her home to pie-fanatics, and oversaw the kitchens there. In 2026, Nokx joined the team at Fallow.

Selected as one of Jay Rayner’s Rising Stars in 2022, she has appeared on Sunday Brunch, Saturday with James Martin and featured in Sainsbury’s Magazine, The Caterer and Observer Food Monthly.
