Walter Karp is the author of eight books and has published more than two hundred articles and essays in Harper’s Magazine, Pageant, Horizon, American Heritage, and many other magazines. In 1969, in collaboration with H.R. Shapiro, he wrote and published a journal about American politics called The Public Life. He was active on the Freedom to Write Committee of the PEN American Center and wrote the foreword to a 1988 book sponsored by PEN, Liberty Denied: the Current Rise of Censorship in America.
