What They're Saying

Critics Review

“Vego delivers a clear, authoritative roadmap to understanding modern naval tactics. With detailed historical examples and expert insight, this brilliant work is indispensable for students of naval warfare and military history alike.” —Vice Admiral Brendan Mclane, commander of the Naval Surface Force, Pacific Fleet

“Any student of naval tactics and strategy would do well to read Milan Vego’s excellent new book. Vego is highly knowledgeable at all levels of war, from the tactical to the strategic, and is a Mariner of the highest order”. —Rear Admiral William McQuilkin, USN (Ret.)

“This book is a fitting addition to the textbook on naval tactics in the genre of Captain Wayne Hughes’ contributions. It is certainly recommended reading for tactically involved sailors, midshipmen and young officers to better understand how tactical instructions used in navies have evolved from such textbooks. Importantly, the two final chapters, Tactical Thinking and Tenets would be useful refreshers for flag officers and those preparing for ship and squadron command as well!” —Admiral Sudarshan Shrikhande, Editor-in-Chief of Indian Naval Despatch
