About The Author
Michael Torres
Michael Torres is a Jabirr Jabirr man whose clan is from the Broome area of the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. Michael has worked in Indigenous affairs throughout the Kimberley and Northern Territory for many years. Michael is a consummate storyteller, writer and artist. He was the winner of both the 2004 and 2005 Dymocks Northern Territory Literary Award in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Writer s section.
Fern Martins is an Ngarabul woman from New South Wales. She launched her career at the age of 19 with a one-woman sculptural exhibition and has developed her career as a sculptor, printmaker and artist. In 1988, together with other young Aboriginal urban artists, Fern started Boomalli, the Sydney Aboriginal Artists Cooperative. She has exhibited at the National Gallery and has lectured at the University of Adelaide.
