About The Author
Masayuki Kitano
Masayuki Kitano serves as an executive director for the Japan Pancreas Society and the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine and Biology. He is also a councilor for the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology and the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society.
Dr. Kitano has authored 310 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 8 book chapters. He developed a novel endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) system equipped with contrast harmonic imaging, which enables the visualization of tissue microcirculation. He has reported on the role of EUS in diagnosing pancreatobiliary and gastrointestinal diseases, with a particular focus on small pancreatic cancers.
His contributions have been recognized with the Ito Award and the Matsuo Award from the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine, as well as the High Citation Award of the Journal of Gastroenterology. Additionally, he has served as a primary investigator on several multicenter studies related to pancreatobiliary endoscopy.
