About The Author
Lucinda Riley
Lucinda Riley was born in Ireland in 1965. After an early career as an actress in film, theatre, and television, she wrote her first book at the age of twenty-four. Her books have been translated into thirty-seven languages and continue to resonate with readers worldwide. The Seven Sisters series, in particular, has become a global phenomenon, spawning its own genre, with plans for a seven-season television series adaptation.
Her novels have received numerous award nominations, including the Italian Bancarella prize, The Lovely Books award in Germany, and the Romantic Novel of the Year award. In 2020, she was awarded the Dutch Platinum award for selling over 300,000 copies of a single novel in one year, an achievement last matched by J.K. Rowling for Harry Potter.
In collaboration with her son, Harry Whittaker, she also created “The Guardian Angels” series for children, inspired by stories she told her own children during challenging times. Harry Whittaker authored the books, which are now being published internationally.
While she raised her four children primarily in Norfolk, England, Lucinda fulfilled a lifelong dream in 2015 by purchasing a remote farmhouse in West Cork, Ireland, a place she considered her spiritual home. Her last five books were written there.
Lucinda Riley was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and passed away on June 11th, 2021, surrounded by her family.
