About The Author

Luca Calvani

Born in Prato in 1974, Luca Calvani moved to New York after graduating from high school. While working for a textile company in the United States, he began his acting studies at the Actor’s Studio, marking the beginning of his career in film and television.

Calvani’s film debut was in Ferzan Ozpetek’s His Secret Life. He has since appeared in international productions such as Tom Tykwer’s The International, Woody Allen’s To Rome with Love, and Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. His television work includes roles in Sex and the City, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Inspector Manara.

Beyond his work in performance, Calvani has a passion for hospitality and gastronomy. He co-hosted Italy’s Come Dine with Me and participated in BBC’s Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job, where he made ravioli with Alan Carr.

Together with his husband Alessandro Franchini, Calvani runs the farmhouse “Le Gusciane” in the Tuscan hills. The farmhouse has been featured in publications like Conde Nast Traveller, Vogue Italia, and Style Corriere. Calvani personally manages the kitchen at Le Gusciane, and his recipes from the farmhouse have been compiled into his first book, A Tuscan Table.
