About The Author

Kim Knott

Kim Knott is Professor of Religious and Secular Studies at Lancaster University. She previously taught at the University of Leeds. Her teaching focuses on the study of religions, including Hinduism. Her research interests lie in religious and secular controversies, and the role of religion in public life, with a particular focus on media, conflict, and security.

She is the author and editor of several books:

  • Media Portrayals of Religion and the Secular Sacred (2013), co-edited with Elizabeth Poole and Teemu Taira.
  • Diasporas: Concepts, Intersections, Identities (2010), co-edited with Seán McLoughlin.
  • The Location of Religion: A Spatial Analysis (2005).

She also produced a website for young people and teachers of Global Education, Citizenship, History, and Geography called Moving People, Changing Places.
