Along with the numerous accolades he received is a special award from the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), the first and only time such an honor was bestowed on a makeup artist. The author of the bestselling book The Art of Makeup , resided in New York City. Kevyn Aucoin passed away in May 2002.
