About The Author
Ken Wharton
Ken Wharton, 59, resides in Australia with his partner, Helen. A father of seven and grandfather to three, with a fourth on the way, he enjoys skydiving and formerly worked as a football referee. He is a former soldier and the author of three oral histories on the Northern Ireland troubles. He writes from the perspective of the British soldier, aiming to share their story of a conflict, largely forgotten by both the Government and the public, which resulted in the deaths of around 1300 military personnel.
He began writing in 2007 and is planning a further oral history of the troubles, a book on the Australians in Vietnam, and a children’s science fiction book over the next year or two. Veterans of the Northern Ireland conflict are eager to tell their stories and ensure the truth is revealed, and in Ken Wharton, they have found a trusted voice to finally tell the truth about the conflict.
