About The Author

Karan Gokani

Karan Gokani is the Co-founder and Creative Director of Hoppers, inspired by the home cooking and roadside stalls of Sri Lanka and southern India, with three restaurants in central London and delivery kitchens across the capital. Karan grew up in Mumbai and moved to England in 2005 to study law at Cambridge. In 2012, he left his career as a solicitor to focus on food and cooking in India. He returned to England and opened the first Hoppers in 2015 with the Sethi siblings, founders of JKS Restaurants. Karan’s obsession with Sri Lanka began in 2009. This book is a personal story of Sri Lankan food through the Hoppers lens.
