Kaija Puura

Kaija Puura MD., Ph.D.

Kaija Puura is Professor of Child Psychiatry at Tampere University, Finland, and Chief Physician in the Department of Child Psychiatry at Tampere University Hospital in Finland.

In 2023, she was awarded the prestigious René Spitz Award for significant lifetime contributions to infant mental health by the World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH).

With a career spanning over thirty years, her extensive research and work on the assessment and treatment of young children has been widely published in national and international peer-reviewed journals.

Kaija is currently an Associate Editor of the Infant Mental Health Journal. She also serves as the Executive Director of the World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH) and Chair of the Finnish Association of Child Psychiatry.
