About The Author
John McHugo
John McHugo studied Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Oxford and the American University in Cairo in the early 1970s. He then practiced international law in the Middle East.
He is an honorary Senior Fellow at the Centre for Syrian Studies at the University of St Andrews, and a board member of the Council for Arab-British Understanding and the British Egyptian Society.
