About The Author
John E. Simmons
John E. Simmons holds a B.S. in Systematics and Ecology and an M.A. in Museum Studies. He began his career as a zookeeper before transitioning to roles as a collection manager at the California Academy of Sciences and later at the Natural History Museum at the University of Kansas. He also served as the Director of the Museum Studies Program at the University of Kansas until 2007.
Simmons has authored over 150 publications, including papers and books, focusing on museology and the preservation of natural history collections. Since 2008, he has operated Museologica, an international museum consulting service. He has also conducted workshops and taught university courses on collection care both within the United States and internationally.
