This book is an essential read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the complexities of climate change.
Dr Marohasy and co-editor Dr John Abbot have assembled scientists and researchers from across the globe whose conclusions challenge prevailing narratives surrounding climate change. This book explores the natural variability of the Earth's climate, and the impact humanity has upon it. Some, but not all authors, believe we have an influence on global temperatures. All provide evidence that climate has always changed and will continue to do so, independent of human influence. Data is examined across broad time scales, from recent decades to the history of the earth. These perspectives are a vital counterbalance to the over-heated hype of those whose exaggerated predictions on rising temperatures are causing undue alarm. In these highly accessible and succinct chapters, you will learn current scientific theories and facts which will give you the ability to make your own contributions to vital discussions on climate science and policy. Climate Change: The Facts 2025 is an essential read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the complexities of climate change.
John Abbot is a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs with more than 120 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, including more than a dozen recent publications in climate science. John is interested in understanding how natural systems change, and the application of artificial intelligence, particularly using neural networks, for forecasting rainfall, and for separation of natural and anthropogenic temperature change. He is a graduate in chemistry from Imperial College, London (1973) with an MSc from the University of British Columbia (1978) and a PhD from McGill University (Montreal) (1982), and also a Master of Biotechnology degree from the University of Queensland. He also has law degrees, a Juris Doctor (2003) and Master of Laws from the University of Queensland (2004), and was admitted as a solicitor in 2004. He has a Master of Technology Management from Deakin University (1997) and has held faculty positions at Queen's University, Canada, the University of Tasmania, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology and Central Queensland University.
