About The Author

Joe Saward

Joe Saward has been writing about motorsport since he left university in the summer of 1983. He began his career travelling from race to race, living in a tent.

He was hired by Autosport the following year and spent 10 years working for the British weekly magazine, eventually becoming Grand Prix Editor. He then moved to France and established his own editorial business.

Joe has attended every Grand Prix since 1988, a remarkable feat in Formula 1 today. In 1995, he created the award-winning weekly newsletter JSBM, which is read by many of the sport’s key figures. In 2000, he launched one of the largest F1 websites, widely regarded for its insightful analysis of the sport.

He has contributed to most of the major F1 magazines globally and has also worked as a broadcaster and consultant. Joe has authored several books, including the best-selling “World Atlas of Motor Racing” and “The Grand Prix Saboteurs,” which details the stories of Grand Prix drivers who served as British secret agents undercover in France.

Currently based in Normandy, Joe remains one of the most independent voices in F1 journalism.
