About The Author
Jimmy Chi
Jimmy Chi was an Australian composer, musician and playwright. He was born in Broome in 1948 to a father of Chinese and Japanese descent, and a Bard and Scottish mother.
Kuckles included Jimmy Chi, Stephen Pigram, Michael Manolis, Garry Gower and Patrick Bin Amat. The musicians were studying at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music in Adelaide and formed the band in 1981. That same year they released their best-known and loved recording Milliya Rumarra (meaning brand new day in the Yawuru language). In 1982, Kuckles travelled to Germany to perform at the Third Annual International Koln Leiderfestival.
