Description

A lost girl. A nefarious god. A secret path to save the worlds. In the explosive finale to the beloved and best-selling Jane Doe Chronicles, Jane faces an impossible battle against an all-powerful enemy – and the fate of every Otherworld hangs in the balance.

Jane Doe has vanished. Her friends have scattered. The God-King has claimed the Otherworlds, victorious. Still, his Amber-eyed Legion hunts, scouring the Manor – the treacherous world between worlds – for his one true vessel: Jane. With her powers, he could rule not only the Otherworlds, but the Manor itself.

But where is Jane? Why did she disappear? And what will happen when she returns with no memory of her life at all?

With a mythical relic in hand and an old ally by her side, Jane has one last chance to find her friends and save the Otherworlds. But first, she will have to find herself …

His Dark Materials meets Indiana Jones in this unforgettable love letter to adventure from award-winning author Jeremy Lachlan, coming 2025.

Critic Reviews

Praise for the Jane Doe Chronicles

‘Speeding trains? He's got them. Forests with something unnerving about them? Those too, and so much more: [a] girl seeking missing kin; booby-trapped ruins; and whip tricks worthy of Indiana Jones…' –The Guardian

'Move over, Indiana Jones. Your escapades seem trivial in comparison to Jane’s. Each page brings more questions than answers in this first book of the Jane Doe duology. I didn’t want to put it down. Neither will you.' –Kids’ Book Review

'Immediately exciting and inventive, this is a thrilling story set in a universe made up of multiple worlds… Jane is a wonderful character—warm, brave and funny—and the secondary characters are equally charming. A unique and utterly compelling read. This action-packed adventure thriller will appeal to a wide range of readers aged 11 and up, and could well be our next Nevermoor.' –Books + Publishing

'[A] climactic action sequence hits every beat. Double-crosses! Triple-crosses! A daring flight in a location definitely not intended for an airplane! A massive rolling boulder! Sandstorms and scorpions! Amid all the death and betrayal, Jane’s timid, sweet flirtation with Violet comes off as positively darling... An explosive, fast-paced, snarky, high-stakes quest through an ancient haunted house.' – Kirkus

'A fantastic fast-paced exciting adventure set in a magical labyrinth of a manor with rooms that shift, booby traps and a classic bad guy who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. I highly recommend this book for kids 11+.' –Readings Kids

About the Author

Jeremy Lachlan was born and raised on Wiradjuri country, in Griffith, New South Wales, Australia. A former bookseller, he completed his honours degree in creative writing at the University of Canberra, and now calls Sydney home. His debut novel, Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds, was the Australian Book Industry Award winner for Book of the Year for Older Children, and its sequel, Jane Doe and the Key of All Souls, was shortlisted for the same award. The Jane Doe Chronicles have been published locally and internationally. But all this pales in comparison to the $100 he once took home in a karaoke competition.

He came up with the idea for the Jane Doe Chronicles while lost in the Cairo Museum.
