Summary

Multi-objective Optimization of Smooth Functionals: Application to Aeronautics provides classical adjoint formulations and gradient-based or gradient-free numerical techniques in multiobjective optimization subject to partial differential equations. The author:

  • Formally develops the gradients of smooth functionals in representative situations for computational purposes.
  • Discusses numerical approaches in multiobjective optimization in a continuous setting.
  • Provides test cases in simulation and optimization typical of aeronautical engineering problems, as well as exercises.
