Critics Review

“If you’re a parent or caregiver wondering how to navigate conversations with your child(ren) about sex, love, and safety, buy this book!

As a parent and practitioner working to help families protect their children from sexual abuse and assault, I am eternally grateful to have this ‘playbook.’ Dr. Rosenzweig provides clarity, history, anecdotes, and no-nonsense guidance on how to have open and factual conversations with children and youth about their sexuality and safety without stigma or shame. Every parent, caregiver, clinician, and educator would benefit from the tools and reference points provided in The Sex-Wise Parent.

This updated edition provides critical guidance on how to navigate media influences, access to children via social media and the internet, and the current sexual climate. Rosenzweig’s Rules for Parents to Raise Sexually Safe and Healthy Children break it all down in the simplest of terms. An essential read.”

–Carol Neal Rossi, parent and child abuse prevention advocate, (former director of Prevent Child Abuse Georgia and consultant to the CDC

“Protecting kids from sexual abuse requires a new mindset, and this book delivers it–shifting safety from a footnote to a foundation every parent, caregiver, and family can build on.”

–Stacy Vaughan, DSW, LMSW, vice president, Growth and Prevention, ChildHelp

“This revised and updated edition of The Sex-Wise Parent is a must-read for parents, grandparents, and everyone who cares about the well-being of our nation’s children and youth. Dr. Rosenzweig’s conversational tone and in-depth knowledge blend together to make it easy to gain critical information, new insights, and understanding of the importance of talking with our children in meaningful and age-appropriate ways. She provides guidance for how to have these important discussions. I highly recommend this book!”

“This is the surely the smartest, most comprehensive guide available anywhere for parents seeking information and support to raise safe and healthy children in today’s sexually confusing culture.

Rosenzweig explores the many challenging currents facing parents today and helps them navigate those challenges with scholarly expertise, historical reflection, and a good dose of humor. Run, don’t walk to make this ‘wise book’ your go-to resource as you raise your children through all the phases of their human and sexual development.

The Sex Wise Parent is truly a gift to parents, their children, and to everyone looking to take meaningful action to prevent the sexual abuse of all our children. ‘Brava!’”

–David Walsh, Ph.D., author of Why Do They Act That Way? A Survival Guide to the Adolescent Brain for You and Your Teen

About The Author

Janet Rosenzweig
