What They're Saying
Critics Review
A great book to give to a mid-life woman who wants to get back into the workforce … packed with testimonies about the pervasive racism, misogyny and ageism that the authors and their friends and colleagues have encountered. That’s not to say the book is depressing. Far from it. Like many women in their 50s and beyond, Evans and Russell are happy to speak truth to power. It’s very refreshing and jargon-free * Financial Times *
About The Author
Jane Evans
Jane Evans is one of her generation’s most successful advertising women, but in her fifties she was completely invisible to her industry. She quickly recognised there is an epidemic of unemployment and invisibility for all midlife women. She founded the Uninvisibility project to highlight the issue, showcase brilliant women and create opportunities for women to return to the workplace. Jane is a prolific speaker with recent keynotes at TBD and Zee Melt. She has appeared on many podcasts from Take F**king Risks to the Huffington Post. In 2019 she was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by Women in Media and in 2020 was one of AdAge’s Women to Watch Europe.
Carol Russell is a screenwriter and founder of Fresh Voices UK which amplifies the work of ethnically diverse screenwriters to the television industry. Her work includes principal scriptwriter of Comin’ Atcha Cleopatra; multi-award-winning, BAFTA-nominated drama series Soon Gone: A Windrush Chronicle, celebrating the 70th anniversary of The Windrush, which was broadcast on BBC Four in 2019. Carol also wrote two episodes for the 9th series of Danny Brocklehurst’s Stone, broadcast on BBC Radio 4’s 2021. She was one of the BAFTA-nominated team of adapters of Jacqueline Wilson’s Story of Tracy Beaker. Carol is also Stephen Lawrence Foundation Trust award winner.
