What They're Saying

Critics Review

A classy, satisfying read, superbly put together

The fourth novel starring DI Grace Fisher is excellent; Isabelle Grey is an elegant writer, a careful plotter, and Fisher is a sympathetic, unexaggerated detective who cares - The Times

Talk about tightening the screws … one of my favourite crime writers

‘Hooks like barbed wire … so much more than a police procedural

Grey never loses sight of the impact on victims in this brave and harrowing novel - Sunday Times Crime Book of the Month on The Special Girls

A penetrating analysis of Stockhlom Syndrome with a notably filmic sensibility - Guardian on The Special Girls

There are plenty of twists to this compelling and compassionate tale, but it’s the sensitivity with which Isabelle Grey handles the legacy of harm that gives the story its beating heart

The sort of book Rendell could have produced … the standout crime novel so far of 2017 - Crimesquad on The Special Girls
