Imray C. Series
Imray Laurie Norie & Wilson Ltd was formed in 1904 from the amalgamation of three private chart publishing firms. Each company had a long history dating back to the mid-18th century. James Imray and Son published charts and pilot books. RH Laurie and Sons was associated with charts for the East India Company. Norie and Wilson, founded by JW Norie, produced charts and books on navigation and sold nautical instruments.
Until 1939, the company was based in the City of London, where cartographers produced charts from copper plate engravings. For over a century Blueback Charts were a popular choice for shipping companies. Currently based in St Ives in Cambridgeshire, Imray charts are produced digitally for printed and electronic editions. Their catalogue of yachting charts is regarded as comprehensive. Their paper charts are complemented by electronic publications and pilot books.
