Critics Review
Georgia Summers’s magical bookshop is my new favorite place. It may be fraught and deadly, and even a little seedy - as flawed as Cassandra Fairfax, its hesitant new owner - but the mystery and danger are part of its charm. The Bookshop Below is a delicious read, I loved every second of it, but can it please be real? * Laini Taylor, New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author of Daughter of Smoke and Bone *
Steeped in bookish magic and infused with the comfort and terror of a favourite tragic fairytale, The Bookshop Below is darkly whimsical and utterly heartwrenching * Tori Bovalino, author of My Throat an Open Grave *
Rich, dark and romantic, The Bookshop Below is a must read for everyone who believes in the magic of books * M. A. Kuzniar, bestselling author of Upon a Frosted Star and Midnight in Everwood *
A love letter to the power of words, for both good and evil. I devoured this story and adored the taste of ink, romance, and magic in every page! * Catelyn Wilson, author of All the Devils *
Georgia Summers’ unique literary magic system (and exceptional literary romance!) bewitched me. The Bookshop Below is lavish, beguiling, and altogether the sort of enchanted book you’d expect to find in the shadowy corner of a curious shop * Sylvie Cathrall, author of A Letter to the Luminous Deep *
Darkly lush and deeply compelling, The Bookshop Below takes readers on a perilous journey into a world of inky spells, powerful books, and a secret society that will stop at nothing to control them. Part murder mystery, part portal fantasy, part love story, and wholly engrossing, this had me riveted until the final page * M. Stevenson, author of Behooved *
Immersive and gripping, The Bookshop Below is a dark confection of a tale that thrills with danger and mystery. Weaving the magic in the ruffle of turned pages with a romance that will seize you by the heartstrings, it’s a perfect book to curl up with during a stormy evening * Lauren Wiesebron, author of The House of Frost and Feathers *
Beguiling and compulsive, The Bookshop Below will sweep you away to an ink magic riddled world tucked within our own. For the readers that love getting lost in a bookshop. I adored it * Rachel Greenlaw, author of The Ordeals *
A dark fairytale, full of menace, deep imagination, and book magic, told with a gorgeous lyrical style. It all adds up to an exhilarating, terrifying ride * Marisa Linton, author of Circle of Shadows *
Summers binds ink, mystery, and Fate herself into a poignant adventure that could come straight from the catalogue of her titular bookshop. Deeply atmospheric and threaded with slow-burn romance, The Bookshop Below is tribute and testament to the ineffable magic of reading * Shalini Abeysekara, Sunday Times bestselling author of This Monster of Mine *
Simultaneously sharp as broken glass and practically aching with yearning, The Bookshop Below is an ink-drenched fairytale for anyone who has ever felt that books were their home. The slow unraveling of secrets is utterly addictive, conjuring a bittersweet world filled with shadowy conspiracies, breathless danger, and the wonder of books. Absolutely magical * Susan Morris, author of Strange Beasts *
With whimsy, romance, and secrets living on every page of this story, The Bookshop Below is as heart-breaking as it is heart racing * Summer England, author of The Impossible Garden of Clara Thorne *
Mesmerizing and magical! Once you enter this remarkable bookshop, you won’t want to leave! The world Georgia Summers creates and the story she weaves is fascinating, mysterious, dangerous, and heart-breaking * Sarah Beth Durst, New York Times bestselling author of The Spellshop *
Summers has woven a dark and compelling world of bargaining booksellers and deadly magic. Readers are in for a treat with plenty of secrets to uncover and a delicious dynamic between morally grey characters * Katalina Watt, author of Saltswept *
Quickly paced and packed with secrets and dastardly motives, The Bookshop Below is a well-wrought mystery, and the unfurling of Cassandra’s backstory - and relationship with rival bookseller Lowell Sharpe - is riveting * Women’s Way *
Beguiling and compulsive, The Bookshop Below will sweep you away to an ink magic riddled world tucked within our own. For the readers that love getting lost in a bookshop. I adored it * Rachel Greenlaw, author of The Ordeals *
