About The Author

Gamal Turawa

Gamal Turawa, or ‘G’ as he prefers to be called, was the UK’s first openly Black, gay police officer. Growing up in the UK care system as a foster child in the 60’s and later as a survivor of physical child abuse, Gamal faced great adversity, which did not stop when he joined London’s Metropolitan Police Service. Gamal’s story has been told in the BAFTA-winning short film ‘The Black Cop’. Today, Gamal is the founder, managing director, and lead facilitator of Purple Frog Connections, where he shares his remarkable journey and expertise. His story is a powerful example of resilience, self-discovery, and the impact of transformative dialogue.
