George Alfred Henty (8 December 1832 – 16 November 1902) was an English author and war correspondent, best known for his historical fiction and adventure books. Notable works include The Dragon & The Raven (1886), For The Temple (1888), Under Drake’s Flag (1883), and In Freedom’s Cause (1885). Henty was a British journalist and war correspondent, educated in Cambridge at Gonville and Caius College. He covered significant wars, including the Italian and Austro-Italian Wars. He authored 122 books, primarily aimed at young readers, as well as non-fiction, adult fiction, and short stories. Henty’s stories typically feature a boy or young man navigating a challenging situation.
