Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic journey as an art studio messenger, later transitioning to a career as a cartoonist. He eventually became an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric created a bedtime story for his son about a small puppy, and thus, Spot was born. “Where’s Spot?” was published in 1980, featuring an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and endearing, distinctive illustrations. Its immediate popularity prompted Eric to pursue a full-time career as an author. The Spot books have since been cherished by children globally and have expanded into audiobooks, animation, toys, and games.
