About The Author

Eric Hill

Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, later becoming a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a prominent advertising agency.

In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story about a small puppy for his son, thus bringing Spot to life. His book, Where’s Spot?, was published in 1980. This interactive children’s book featured an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and charming, distinctive illustrations.

The immediate success of Where’s Spot? inspired Eric to pursue a career as a full-time author. Since then, Spot books have delighted children globally, and the character has also been featured in audio books, animations, toys, and games.
