Elizabeth Wissner-Gross is an experienced college admissions advisor with over 12 years of experience helping thousands of students navigate the application process. She is the author of two books on college admissions: “What Colleges Don’t Tell You: and Other Parents Don’t Want You to Know” and “What High Schools Don’t Tell You.”
Wissner-Gross also leads “Write-Your-Essay-in-One-Day” workshops and speaks at schools nationwide. She has appeared on national television programs such as the Today Show (NBC) and The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet (Fox News), and has been featured on Martha Stewart radio (Sirius) and other popular radio programs. She is a regular keynote speaker for CollegeWeekLive and has participated in panels sponsored by The New York Times, Newsday, The World Journal, and the Columbia/Princeton Club of New York. Elizabeth Wissner-Gross graduated cum laude from Barnard College in 1975 with a degree in Political Science and Education. She earned her MS from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 1976 and pursued further graduate studies at UCLA. Her journalism career includes roles as a writer and editor at the Daily News of Los Angeles, Associated Press, and Newsday. She also taught journalism at colleges and graduate programs in the New York area, and her articles have been published in hundreds of newspapers, including The New York Times, Boston Herald, and Los Angeles Times.
She resides on Long Island, NY, and in Connecticut. Her two sons both attended MIT for their undergraduate degrees and Harvard for their PhDs.
