Ed Brubaker
Ed Brubaker
Ed Brubaker is a multiple Eisner Award winner and one of the most acclaimed writers in comics. After popular runs on Scene of the Crime, Sleeper, Catwoman, and Gotham Central for DC Comics, he moved to Marvel. His relaunch of Captain America, which controversially revived Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier, garnered both new and old fans. His revisionist take on mutant history in X-Men: Deadly Genesis led to a regular position on Uncanny X-Men.
Brubaker, alongside artistic collaborator Michael Lark, took over Daredevil following the acclaimed run by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev. He also co-wrote Immortal Iron Fist with Matt Fraction and artist David Aja. Marvel’s Icon imprint published his creator-owned works Criminal and Incognito. He has since achieved further success at Image Comics with titles like Fatale, Velvet, and The Fade Out. Beyond comics, Brubaker has written for television, including Westworld, and co-created the crime drama Too Old to Die Young.
Marcos Martin
Marcos Martin’s clean, fluid style quickly made an impact on DC’s Batgirl: Year One. He went on to work on Breach and illustrate a short run of Green Arrow. At Marvel, Martin collaborated with writer Brian K. Vaughan on Doctor Strange: The Oath and was part of the artistic team for Amazing Spider-Man.
Martin contributed to the Eisner Award-winning Daredevil relaunch by Mark Waid. He also received an Eisner and Harvey Award for his collaboration with Vaughan on the creator-owned digital comic The Private Eye.
Luke Ross
Luke Ross, a Brazilian artist, has been creating comics since the early 1990s. He has demonstrated a talent for superhero action in titles such as X-Man, Sensational Spider-Man, Green Lantern, and JSA. Ross joined the creative team on writer Ed Brubaker’s Captain America, filling in for Mike Perkins, and was among the artists contributing to Marvel’s thrice-monthly Amazing Spider-Man.
His other Marvel credits include Secret Avengers, Dark Tower: The Gunslinger - The Little Sisters of Eluria, Star Wars: Darth Maul, and Star Wars: Thrawn.
Gene Colan (1926-2011)
Gene Colan’s distinctive, shadowy style is perhaps best known for his extensive work on Captain America and Daredevil, as well as all 70 issues of Tomb of Dracula, among many other Marvel titles. His work for DC on Detective Comics and Night Force is also highly regarded. During the Golden Age, he contributed numerous war stories for both Marvel and DC.
Colan received several Eagle Awards and had his professional artwork exhibited in New York City. His contributions to Ed Brubaker’s Captain America at the age of 82 were met with significant critical acclaim.
