Critics Review

“Dr. Messina approaches a much needed subject with expertise and personal insight. His vulnerable exploration of many things that derail Christians (anxiety, trauma, loss) is navigated through the lens of his professional training and his faith. What a rare and needed combination!”

- David Pocta, Ph.D., Director, Institute for the Study of Contemporary Spirituality, Oblate School of Theology

“This is the right book at the right time! Both from a micro and a macro level. Certainly “finding peace” in today’s world is something we are all looking for. It draws on sound Biblical principles, researched based psychological practices (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and effective personal stories. It both challenges our thinking and encourages our hearts. I plan on recommending this book to my clients.”

- Don Burroughs, M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor, Core Counseling & Coaching

“I am delighted to endorse Dr. Michael Messina’s book. He addresses the tragedies of death, disease, disaster, and evil, many from personal experience, and guides readers to find the peace God provides. The reflection questions after each chapter are excellent! This self-help book teaches readers how to think, pray, and trust in God during and after life’s storms. I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling to make spiritual sense of suffering. I plan to purchase and share his book with clients. Thank you, Dr. Messina, for your heartfelt contribution.”

- Beverly Ozanne, M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor, Thrive Emotional-Spiritual Counseling

“I didn’t realize how much I needed to read this book! In very few words and a lifetime of clinical experience, Dr. Messina discusses the things of God that most of us find extremely difficult to talk about. Dr. Messina beautifully shares insights from the Bible as to the meaning of suffering, and the beauty of knowing God has a plan through it all. By the time I was done reading, truly my anxiety and worry was resting more in peace.”

- Laura Gower, Women’s Ministry Leader, DFW Church, Dallas, TX

“Perfect timing for the times we live in! This book couldn’t be more on point. Tragedy & pain ignite so many different emotions in each of us, but Dr. Messina weaves God’s plan and desire into every page. Whatever you are (or I am) facing, God is doing something in our lives. Dr. Messina speaks truth to those of us captured between the reality of our own life stories and the hope we have in a God of love and kindness.”

- Allen Gower, Evangelist and Lead Worship Minister, DFW Church, Dallas, TX
