Scottish Sea Kayaking

Doug is Head of Paddlesports at Scotland’s National Outdoor Training Centre, Glenmore Lodge. He is a Level 5 Coach in Sea and White Water, with a passion for guiding people to remote and spectacular coastlines and rivers, helping them to enhance their paddling skills and understanding. Many of these excursions take place on the sea along Scotland’s North or East Coast, which serves as both a stunning office and an exceptional playground.

Doug also enjoys challenging himself and experiencing the thrill of personal adventures and expeditions. He has sea kayaked extensively across the globe, exploring destinations such as Greenland, Alaska, Iceland, Norway, Ireland, Corsica, Croatia, Sardinia, and Greece, and is perpetually planning his next adventure.

When not on the water, Doug can be found in the mountains, working as a Mountain and Ski Instructor or pursuing new climbing routes and fresh powder tracks for recreation. He is also the author of Sea Kayak Handling and Rough Water Handling, and co-author of Scottish Sea Kayaking, all published by Pesda Press. Doug finds joy and adventure in discovering remote parts of the world, embarking on expeditions, and sharing these experiences with friends and clients.
