Critics Review

“Debra Miller’s writing is courageous and vulnerable as she scrapes at scabs that still feel unhealed after all these years. Choose me are the words that seem to jump off every page—a plea from Miller to her father’s ghost, her manipulative mother, and all the men she sends away before they can leave her. Picking up Miller’s memoir feels like choosing her.”—Bridey Thelen-Heidel, author of Bright Eyes: Surviving Our Monsters and Learning to Live Without Them – A Memoir “Like digging up a time capsule, Debra unearths a past filled with drugs, sex, and alcohol in the aftermath of her mother murdering her father. A remarkable memoir filled with searing pain, loss, and a deep need for love.”—Stephanie Maley, author of No Longer That Girl
