About The Author
Dave Schultz
DAVE “THE HAMMER” SCHULTZ is renowned as one of hockey’s greatest enforcers. He holds the record for the most penalty minutes in a single NHL season: 472 in 1974-75. The Hammer was one of the most notable players of the Philadelphia Flyers’ “Broad Street Bullies,” winning two Stanley Cups, and subsequently played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, and Buffalo Sabres. After retiring, Schultz coached several minor league teams. Despite his successes on the ice, Schultz has often expressed regret regarding his contribution to popularizing fighting in hockey.
DAN ROBSON is a senior enterprise writer for The Athletic. He is the author of the national bestseller Quinn, Bower, and Measuring Up.
