Cordwainer Smith (1913 - 1966) was the pen name of Paul Myron Anthony Linebarger, an American author, scholar, and expert on psychological warfare. He is best known for his science fiction works, particularly the Instrumentality of Mankind series, which are characterized by their unique blend of political science, cultural anthropology, and mythology. Outside of his writing, Linebarger was a professor at Johns Hopkins University and served as an advisor to the U.S. government during World War II and the Cold War.
