What They're Saying

Critics Review

“I have known Cheryl Groskopf for nearly 20 years, as a professor, research advisor, collaborator, colleague, and friend. In her career development, Cheryl has created a unique and intentional combination of skills, training, and expertise to address an essential and profoundly important human experience, the mind-body connection. This book reflects a culmination of academic and clinical skill used to create and communicate an impactful, straightforward approach and treatment method for the expansive interconnection of mind and body, particularly through physical techniques for nervous system regulation. Based on an expert understanding of psychological research and therapeutic approaches, Cheryl presents a variety of rather simple activities that can profoundly impact the quality of daily life and thus, overall happiness and well-being. This book will be extremely helpful to many people and should be on the shelf of every therapist.”
—Dr. Heidi Riggio, Professor of Psychology Emeritus, California State University, Los Angeles

About The Author

Cheryl Groskopf

Cheryl Groskopf is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor based in Los Angeles. She specializes in overthinking, anxiety, attachment wounds, and trauma, including complex trauma.

Her work goes beyond logic and insight, helping clients understand why their minds and bodies work the way they do and how to shift out of survival mode. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, and trauma-informed nervous system science, Cheryl helps clients get to know the parts of themselves that learned to overanalyze as a way to stay safe. Instead of trying to silence those parts, she works with them gently and respectfully, so they no longer have to carry everything alone.

She also brings a strong somatic focus to her work, helping clients notice what’s happening in their bodies beneath the racing thoughts—held breath, tight chests, quiet tension—and use that awareness to create safety and regulation over time.
