Critics Review
karenplatt.co.uk: This book is part of a practical gardening series from the Henry Doubleday Research Association, now renamed Garden Organic. The subject of this book is one that all gardeners need to master. Conservation of water, irrigation and mulching techniques are explained to enable you to create gardens that flourish without tap water. This 64-page booklet is almost 10 years old, the ideas and philosophy are still valid, although the book could benefit from new photos in places. A third of the book is dedicated to drought-resist plants so that you know what you can grow. Storage, water retention, economic watering and mulches will all help not only your garden but the environment in general. New ideas have come along in the past ten years that could now be included.
About The Author
Charlotte Green
Charlotte Green was fascinated by the idea of natural gardening at a very early age. She has a large flourishing vegetable garden at her Sussex home, where she grows dozens of varieties of herbs, plus many topical varieties, and she also keeps ponies, ducks, geese, chickens, and sheep. Her forty acres of woodland were recently named as a site of nature-conservation interest, having been found to contain 250 different species of plants. When not gardening, she loves to travel the world studying exotic flora and fauna.
